Visit our newest section of the website, entitled Forthcoming 'Hot' Works. Some articles we accept for publication have special potential to contribute to law or policy debates that are likely to heat up faster than we can move manuscripts into print. For these articles, we now ask authors' consent to place their manuscripts online as works in progress, so -- even as they are undergoing further refinement -- so both scholars and concerned decision makers can have more immediate access to their thoughts.

I/S Journal Presents: Youth and Social Media Symposium 2010
The phenomenon that perhaps most distinctively characterizes the generation of Americans born since 1990 is its pervasive engagement with social media - media enabled by the proliferation of new digital (and frequently mobile) information and communication technologies. Both old and new media are consequently awash in near-daily discussions about the implications of this phenomenon for young people's safety, privacy, free expression, cultural engagement, sense of identity, and civic role.

On February 12, 2010, I/S: A Journal of Law and Policy for the Information Society will proudly host a full-day symposium on the value of social media for the lives of young people and the challenges and opportunities that social media present. The event will run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Saxbe Auditorium of the Ohio State University Moritz College of Law, and will feature nationally and internationally recognized experts on law, media, technology, public health, and communication.

Sponsored by: I/S: A Journal of Law and Policy for the Information Society, The Justice for Children Project, The Center for Interdisciplinary Law and Policy Studies, and Literacy Studies at OSU.
